Entries and Premiums
Barrows/Gilts must be on grounds by 7:00 pm, Friday before fair.
Entry Deadline: Online and walk in entries end July 12, 2025Entry Fee: $10 per entryPens will only be sold for open class only pigs for $10 per pen. Pens must be purchased at the fair office by July 20.
Premiums paid to top 5 placings in each weight class. (No trophys)
PREMIUMS WILL BE HANDED OUT DURING THE SHOW. PLEASE SEE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT.
Rules and Regulations
  • All swine coming to the Preble County Fair will be terminal unless scratched at weigh ins. Any animal not scratched will be sold to the packer at the packer price.
  • Open Class only pigs can be released after the show. All scratched animals can be released on Thursday 6-9 pm.
  • Hair on barrow/gilt must be 3/4” long. If a barrow/gilt has been deemed as clipped by the Swine Committee, the barrow/gilt will be disqualified from showing in the Open Class show. No clipping of barrows/gilts will be permitted on the fairgrounds.
  • Out of state exhibitors need Health Papers marked exhibition only.
  • Preble County will not require pseudorabies test for Ohio swine.
  • The department may choose to divide any weight class.
  • All open class barrows/gilts will be weighed in immediately following Junior Fair barrows/gilts.
  • All exhibitors are responsible for having their barrow/gilt at weigh in.
  • All exhibitors are requested to use shavings for bedding, no straw permitted.
  • There will be NO RE-WEIGHING of barrows/gilts.
  • The weight classes will be posted by exhibitor’s name in the show ring on the day of the show.
  • All entries must be made in the name of the actual owner.
  • No exhibitor under the age of 5 will be permitted to show in the Open Class show.
  • All Open Class only barrows/gilts must have an EID tag.
  • NO TACK PENS WILL BE SOLD.
  • Junior Fair exhibitors showing only their Junior Fair projects in open class need to just pay the entry fee, not a pen fee also.
  • Only barrows/gilts meeting the weight requirements (220-290) will be eligible for the Open class show. Proof of entry may be required.
  • If any of the above rules are not followed, the animal will be disqualified from showing in the Open class show and forfeit all premiums and trophies.
Pee Wee Swine Showmanship
We will hold our 18th Annual Pee Wee Swine Showmanship after the Open ShowChildren ages 5 - 8 are encouraged to participate. Sign ups will be posted Sunday morning.
Swine Carcass Contest
Friday, During weigh inThe Swine Carcass Contest will be split into two contests. Gilts will compete in a contest and barrows will compete in a separate contest. Awards will be given to the top five in each contest.
Carcass Contest Rules
  • Contest is open to all Junior Fair and Open class Barrows and Gilts that meet the weight requirements.
  • Entry fee will be $10 per head. Fee must be paid at time of scanning.
  • No Pre-registration is required.
  • Results are based on a percent lean basis.
  • Results will be announced prior to the Junior Fair Sale on Friday.
  • Any barrow or gilt disqualified for any reason will not be eligible to enter the carcass contest.
4th ANNUAL PREBLE COUNTY SWINE BREEDERS ASSOCIATION SHOW
Tuesday, 9 amCASH PRIZES AND AWARDS WILL BE GIVEN
  • Registration will be done at the time of purchase from the PCSBA member.
  • All exhibitors must have a PCSBA and an EID tag to show. PCSBA tags will be given to exhibitor from the breeder. EID tag must be purchased from the Fairgrounds office.
  • The Bred and Born show will follow the rules of the Preble County Fair Open Show.
  • Exhibitor must be 5 years old to show.
  • Any 4-H/FFA or Open class entry bought from a PCSBA member is eligible for the show that meets the requirements.
  • If the Bred and Born show only barrow/gilt is scratched at weigh ins, the exhibitor can take their barrow/gilt home after the show.
  • PCSBA is not responsible for accidents.

Classes may be split if numbers warrant.
